Hi! I had spotted salamander eggs that were being dried up in a ditch. So in an effort to help them and to observe I hatched them with the intention of putting them into the vernal pool. However that dried up as well. Anyhow, they have been growing all summer and I have been feeding them mosquito larvae. One of them has now crawled up a plant And is completely above water. I realize that when they Metamorphasize they turn into salamanders, but I do see her gills still. So my question is, at this point do I feed her on land or in the water? I can’t find any information to help me.

Feed it where ever it is, just provide a semi aquatic environment and it will decide where to hang out.
