Which in your opinion is the better way to operate one of these...with an air pump, or power head? This is the 4th filter I am trialling as all others created to much water flow

Hi i have always used a air pump with mine an they work great .I have 2 large sponge filters running on my 3ft tank driven by one large air pump my axies seem happy with them an they love the bubbles

Thanks Liz. So I am presuming the top of the cylinder in which the bubbles are formed needs to be below the water level right? I'll have to either shorten the tube, or increase the water level in my tank as at the moment, the top of the cylinder that bubbles is above water level...DUUUUHHHHHH!

I have mine about 20cm below the water ive attached a picture of mine sorry its not great

Ideally it should be under water, but it will work if they're nearly level as well.

But more water is almost always better.

Liz your tank is so pretty - love the pinky/purple tones . THANKS!

Kaysie, thank you too...I'll add more water xo
