Hello everyone:) My axi babies are about an inche long. they are 2 1/2 weeks and are doing great.

i wanted to know at what size i could put them in a bigger contener with a filter sponge?

they are almost all eating bloodworm( the contener of the smaller one still have brine shrimp)

thanks for you help.

I say the bigger the container the better off they'll be because when they start growing legs other axies can nip their legs(which do end up growing back). Mine are about an inch and a half and I have a same filter in their tub. Make sure the filter isn't too beastly cause that will stress them. If you put it on the lowest flow setting you should be okay, just make sure they babies aren't getting sucked into the filter or getting suck on it.

You will want to keep them in plastic containers until they have their back legs at least. Live foods are messy (especially bbs) and baby axolotls aren't very smart. If you use a small container, you know the axolotls can get to the food, and water changes will be easier to do. I don't use filters in their tubs the water movement will likely stress them out.

I have a small filter running in mine, plus I do water changes twice a day cause I'm feeding my 2inch axies blackworms and so far none of the babies looked stressed..theyrve grown a lot since the water is cleaned out all the time.

I'd love to see some pics of your little ones. I miss having babies.
