So, i've been checking out my tank lately, and i noticed that a) i seem to have white wormy things growing on the glass. I asked my lfs about it, and they said it was perfectly normal, and that i'll see it fluctuate over time. Is this true?

and b) I seem to have some sort of growth going on around my drift wood that I placed in the tank. At first i thought it was spermataphores, but now i don't think so, as it seems to be getting worse. It reminds me very much of that fake spiderweb stuff you buy in a bag for your house? I pulled the stick out and scrubbed it with my official "aquarium toothbrush" but is this something i should be worried about? is it related to the wormy guys? Levels are all normal in my tank, and it averages 20-24C

True. Any good tank has lots of little worms and such. Think of pond-water under a microscope.

B) maybe fungus. Sometimes driftwood just doesn't do well with being wet. Take it out, and wash it off well, bake/boil/sterilize it, and put it back. If fungus grows again, you can keep sterilizing, or just toss it.
