Spermatophores

Hi can anyone give me any info on spermatophors, size, shape that sort of thing im trying to make a care sheet on axolotls and cant find much info about spermatophors i understand how the male deposits them and the female will choose to accept it or not and that slate in the tank is helpful but apart from it being a package for the female there isnt much info on them, i have also recently required a large male and would like to know what im looking out for and if he will deposit them even though there is no female in the tank? if he does deposit them with out a female in the tank do they need to be removed from the tank to prevent contaminating the water thank you for any information

The ones in my tank are a tiny see through volcano shape with a white top.
If they're not picked up they just disintegrate into nothing.
