Hello everyone, first sorry for my writing, I write with translator so you might make some mistakes.

I open this topic because I wanted to prepare a terrarium that for terrestrial salamanders. The terrarium measures are 65x30x50cm (length, width, height). The front has a fixed glass 20cm high, and thence up two sliding doors. Salamandra sp had thought, but for now I can not know where to live within a few months, and Spain autonomous community depends on each Salamandra sp which can be maintained or not. I wish you advise me on what you could keep the species, which species are the most accessible, easy and cheap, and could mount the terrarium as substrates to use ......

Well, thank you very much in advance and greetings.

You should really figure out a salamnder to keep first and THEN figure out the tank style, so try looking up a few salamanders you like, maybe Fire Salamanders.

That's what I intend, first know the species to know how to ride after his terrarium, but I like many species :D, and wanted to know which are more suitable for me, as that would be my first terrestrial salamanders.

Thanks for your answer, a greeting

Im not sure whats available there but tiger salamanders, mandaran newts, california newts, and blue-spotted salamanders are good choices for a terrestrial enclosure. If you had a semi-aquatic set-up, you would have far more choices of salamanders and newts to choose from. You also need to tell us what your temps are. Fire salamanders, for example, need temps below 70 at all times to advoid stress.

Thanks for your response. Taricha salamanders are terrestrial?

Sorry, maybe I don´t understand, you mean that if I make a semiacuatic configuration would have more options? If that´s what you say interests me a lot, but first I must say the ability of the area could fill with water. This part measures 65x30x20cm, this gives 39 liters of capacity, you think I could configure my terrarium as acuaterrarium and put some sort os aquatic or semi-aquatic newt?

Greetings

Hi
Talking to a fellow hobby, told me that could fit a couple of Triturus dobrogicus if the terrarium would use it as acuaterrarium. I like this idea, I'll ride this week or next. What you think of the idea?

Greetings and thanks to all

I keep Triturus Dobrogicus. If you want them, you dont need anymore land than a floating island. They rarely go on land. Taricha Torosa is quite terrestrial except for breeding season. If you have more questions just ask.
