Sores?

Hello

The newt that is not eating and is missing a leg, is now having what appears to be sores....there is a large distinct one under/behind his missing leg and one starting in front.

THe sore looks like the dark part of his skin has been peeled off in a circle....and is white. He is starting to get lethargic.

How did this happen....is it viral, bacterial or just a cut gone bad. What can I do for him.

Please and Thanks......

This guy too has passed on....I have one left and after a thorough inspection (handling as carefully as I could; this is one of the few times I touch them) he looks to be in perfect health...no sores, no missing limbs, eating and avoiding the water still....lol.

Also want to say thanks to all who helped me with the other three newts; its been a long two weeks and lots of downs and lots of posts by me; so a special thank you to those of you who tried to help me out.....it was really aprpeciated.....Thank You

Jaia, Sorry for your losses. Pet-shop syndrome happens to even the best of keepers. If you are wanting to get more, I suggest finding a breeder to purchase the animals from. These animals are healthier, and are obviously not caught from the wild. If memory serves me, Jennewt still has captive-bred Triturus karelinii juveniles for sale. These are gorgeous animals and grow fast, getting to be fairly large.

Best of luck in the future.
