Einstuerzende Neubauten (Germanny) have an excellent love song on Salamandrina..although if you listen to the lyrics they probably have meant Salamandra salamandra, but that's just a minor detail.

Caudate = our vernacular for tailed amphibian.

Literally it means "tailed thing".
