Awhile ago I made a thread about how one of my mudpuppy's feet only had 3 toes for unknown reasons. It never looked like anything happened to her foot, maybe it was born that way.

Now today I knowticed that that same foot looks very interesting. The middle toe looks really fat and almost like it is going to split in to two toes. I've attached a picture of the foot, its the middle toe, you can't really see the split end in the picture but you can see the enlarged size. Whats up?

Compare the first picture (fat toe) to the one of the same foot from June.

Looks like fused toes. It even happens in humans. It´s nothing to worry about, but being genetic it may pass to the offspring (if it´s ever bred).
 
Ok, but will they separate on their own? Becuase it looks more and more separated.
 
hmm

One of my chinese firebellies had two partly meld together toes but I can't remember if it stayed like that.
