Hello!

This has a slight salamander bent, so I thought I'd share a little funny bit of my wedding.

We borrowed Tim's idea of having newts on our wedding cake, because who doesn't want newts on their wedding cake?

I also made a newt ring-holder in lieu of the ringboy. He behaved much better anyways.

Sorry guys, I'm off the market now. ;)

Adorable! Did you make the figurines? (I can't imagine where one would purchase them!) They're great, and the ring-bearer one is a fantastic idea! You look beautiful- congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful future!

Congratulations Pin-pin, those newts wouldn't be Taricha by any chance would they? ;-))

Congratulations! How cute!

Best wished for a happy and love-filled life!

Mike, they are of course Taricha.

Four toes on the front limb and five toes on the rear limbs in fact. ;)

In addition to the newts, I love the little waterfall that flows across the 3 tiers of the cake

Congratulations, Pin-pin!

Hey, congrats to both of you on having taken the matrimonial plunge!

And what great toppers on the cake! You really outdid us

Do keep us posted on any major developments emerging from this happy union (your possibly becoming "gravid" for example!).

Hi Pin Pin,

I really like the cake and I wish you the best in your matrimonial bliss.

They were sadly not edible, James. I made them out of a mix of Fimo/Scupley. I went through two rounds to figure out how to stabilize the arms and legs. Baking was done in several stages.

I'm glad you found the photos amusing!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
