Will try and post clearer pics of Dot & Jock. Wife took these but nearly dropped camera in bucket at time so refrained from taking more!

Thanks the other two are camera shy, hard to get a photo usually a blur when they see the camera and I don't use the flash

These are best I can take of Jock, her head is so dark, will be better once I can sort out/move them to tank.

Charlie - No, tho does have macro setting. Never thought to use it. Panasonic. Without flash/using backlight.

Ahahahaa. Those pics made me laugh, they are such funny, cute looking axies.Such colourings!Sweet

Axel, in the last two pictures, the gills on both seem very small compared to most pictures I've seen. Is there something wrong with them?

(I don't know much about axies - I only have newts right now, but I'm looking for a couple of axies).

Hi siren yes the gills are pretty small ,we got them a couple of months ago ,they were in a bit of a state
they are coming on great now ,they are starting to grow little wispy bits now ,the tank they were in ,great tank ,the filter was on way too high ,which would'nt have helped their stress levels ,we have them in a huge holding bucket at the moment ,the tank went n busted while we were cycling it GRR 3 weeks work down the drain ,lucky they were in the bucket at the time ,the previous ownerhad only been feeding them once a week (freeze dried Tubifex worms ) the amount of coloured gravel ,more like pebbles they poo'ed out was un-believable now with daily water changes and a great diet (better fed than me lol ) they are coming on great now .they are bout 3 years of age .

Wow - sounds like they were in a pretty bad home before. It's wonderful that they're with you now - you're taking such great care of them, they probably think they're in paradise, hehe.

That's horrible about your tank breaking - I guess better that it happened now, though, rather than AFTER you got the new axies into it!

One of my tanks was on a shelf that started giving way under the weight last weekend - luckily, I noticed what was happening in time to move the tank before the shelf collapsed. *whew*

Yes you were very fortunate Siren ,better to put them on a surface which has full support ,water can be pretty heavy ,what newts have you got ? ,I will put more pics on tonight ,I took the axies out of the bucket and put them in my small tank to take some better photos ,Jock looks like he's from the time of the Dinosaurs LOL

Try taking a few shots with the Macro setting on. It'll sharpen up all the close ups you do of them, and allows you to use it with zoom as well.

Found it really brings out the features on the axies

AWWW HOW CUTE! I missed the "shall we dance" pic!
Very cute!! I have captions!

As you can see Jock is a bit of a dinosaur lol.
And Dot is Dot ,I put them in the small tank just for these photos ,it was good to see them in entirety rather than having to look down on them all the time ,Their getting better everyday.
I will post some of my others soon.

Axel - I like the "dancing partners" too!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
