Hi
So I read the bit on hatching brine shrimp, as was like ahh no problem.
And ordered my eggs from my exotic pet shop.
They have come in and I was planing to do a trial run, but the eggs cave come in a liquid form apparently minus shells (nt labs) so I'm wondering if I can do them the same way as the tutorials....

Please someone, if they have used this type let me know.

Thanks

Lolly

You have decapsulated brine shrimp. Make sure they're "hatching" decaps and hatch them out just like regular ones. It really makes raising bbs much much easier. People say they're more nutritious as well. They're all I use unless I'm in a pinch.

Thanks for that,
Dose that mean I can use the pop bottle technique, that is posted on here.

I have tried the liquid form of bbs but have has far more failures with that than the normal eggs, plus the liquid over time costs much more than buying eggs in a poke.

Yes, the shells have just been removed. This can be done with bleach (apparently), though I have never done this myself.

Thanks for that folks,
Like I say I wanted to do a trial run, before my eggs hatch,
So will have to see how it goes.

If all else fails, I have an aquatic shop that's sells live food, but I wanted to " grow my own" as such so I could garantee quality and age,

Try not to rely on petshops for live food, they have breaks in supply and often get deliverys once a week and the live food is ... well not live before their next delivery. I know a couple of people on this forum who have lost batches of young due to pet shop dependance.

Had the exact same eggs none hatched at all x not a lot o people have had sucess with nt labs x

I guess it depends on where you buy your eggs from. The key is to make sure they are HATCHABLE decapsulated brine shrimp. Many fish keepers buy decaps that don't hatch because their fish eat them anyway.

You can use the pop bottle method with decaps, that's what I use. Personally I love decaps. They're more nutritious, hatch faster, live longer because they have a bigger yolk sack, and usually hatch out at a better rate. As far as price goes, they are a bit more expensive, but I raised 200+ larvae almost entirely on decaps (till they were big enough to eat chopped blackworms) and it only cost me about $15

Im using nt labs in a bottle i know my fish would eat them lol, thinnk my trouble is temp xxx

Well I have a test run bubbling away now. My kitchen is starting to look like dr stangeways lab
Thankfully we are all havin crimbo dinner at the mother in laws tomorrow,

And I'm seriously hoping it will take another week before they hatch.
As I'm away for a couple of days visiting my mum ( and possibly delivering some of my eggs)

So hoping it works. Fx

Well test run whent well,
Only put one pop bottle on 1lt water 1 heaped teaspoon sea salt air pump plugged in, forgot to shake egg bottle so had to re shake and just poured about 2 teaspoons of egg liquid in, ( will have to put more in I think as although there is quite a lot not sure it will be enought but trial and error I s'pose). Thought they had changed colour so took some out in water looked in my glass and saw them all swimming around, so so far so good on the nt labs.

Just seems a shame to pour them down the sink though :/
