Do they pose any threat to the axies? I got some plants about 6 months back and have been plagued with the little buggers ever since so just wondering if they are ok to leave in or not? They are only 1 couple of mm in size and the axies don't seem to notice them at all

Snails are annoying, but not usually harmful. Having a lot of snails will add to your bioload. Large snails do pose a bit of a threat in that they can pinch an axolotl who may get a foot/face caught in their operculum.

Depending on the type and size of the snail, the axi may try to eat it and get impacted. See the species mixing disaster thread on this forum for some examples of large snails being stuck in an axi mouth.

Typically the snails hitchhiking on your plants are going to be too small to be any risk. It may seem like you have a ton of snails, but that's typical. There is usually a huge boom in population then they even out and become less of an issue.

Thanks for the replies :) I keep removing them but I guess there must be eggs in the sand so will give that a good clean
