Aw! Your axie is so cute! He looks very happy and healthy. I want to try feeding mine fish but I always wimp out because I can't stand to think of seeing her eating a tiny fish. I am trying to get over it and buy some guppies or something haha. Your axolotl looks great though! Congratulations! (also a lot of people have told me not to have little rocks in the tank because they can eat them, I replaced my marbles with sand)

yeah, i get that alot, my axie doesnt have toes and sand makes it hard for him to get around with stumps for hands. he is starting to grow some more but he came from a dumb kid who had heaters and tons of bigger fish in the tank and didnt know how to care for him.

Hi Jenilyn,

Smudge is gorgeous and has such beautiful eyes.

yeah, i get that alot, my axie doesnt have toes and sand makes it hard for him to get around with stumps for hands.

That size gravel is dangerous to the axolotl as when ingested the stones will be an unpleasant or painful experience for the axolotl to pass and if the axie cannot pass the stone, then the stone can block the gut which can cause death.

Axolotls are oppurtunistic and greedy feeders, they will look for food themselves even when well fed by their owners by snuffling through the sustrate and when they dive for what they perceive as food, anything in proximity small enough to fit in the mouth will be ingested. Sand is safe, as they can pass this with ease when swallowed accidently.

Experiencing a little trouble in moving around on sand due to no feet is nothing compared to the stress and discomfort of trying to pass a stone.

Stupid people who don't know how to care for an axie and put him in a tank with other fish and heaters! Thank god you saved him and gave him a loving home!

I dont know why people buy axolotls and even other animals when they havent got a clue how to look after them, I always read up about the animals and get some idea how to look after them before buying cause there is nothing worse than making the animal ill, strest extra because of there own neglect. All animals should live in the right conditions that is righ for them. Good for you for saving him. He looks happy least you will give him a better life poor boy.
