Hi everyone --

A few weeks ago, my two male sirens got into a bit of a scuffle and some limbs were bitten. The one in the picture below got the worst injuries - both hands were wounded and I think his left hand got infected.

This was taken on Feb. 6th:

He's been separated since the incident happened and I've been treating him with Neosporin and in diluted aquarium salt baths for several hours at a time and the white bit on the end of the limb has since fallen off. The wound is still red, but he's still active. I was suggested to use very diluted betadine, but can't find any, though I'm going to try to see if my local vet can order me a bottle.

A couple questions:

- Is there anything else I can do to treat the wounds besides the aquarium salt baths?

- He hasn't been eating since the treatment - is there anything I can do to stimulate his appetite? I've tried nightcrawlers, ghost shrimp and frozen bloodworms, but he just isn't interested.

I'll try to get an updated photo later tonight.

Thanks!

the white stuff will fall off and regrow and fall off-its a cycle, appetite will probably not return till hes feeling better. for future reference-i noticed aggression went down in my colony when i fed them more food on a regular basis. for such wounds as this one i combine 10% topical batryl treatment with refrigeration.
