Simple JFB question

I was going to buy 2 JFB in there larva stage. they are fully aquatic until they become a juvinile? and when they do they become terrestrial until adulthood? i read the species thing but i just wanted to get that clarafied. 1 more question what would be a good size tank for these 2 ?
 
they for the most part stay aquatic, maybe in winter they may or may not go terrestrial. A 15-20 gallon at least if they are indeed Japanese and not Chinese firebellies, which I would assume they would be. Japanese are slightly larger and have more pointed tails. You could use a ten gallon for just 2 CFB.
 
Lee, the larvae are entirely aquatic. But once they begin to lose their gills, they must have land or they can drown. Once they have gone through metamorphosis, they can be kept terrestrial, or semiaquatic with VERY shallow water. For more info, see:

thank you very much Jen the help was apreciated i have a water softener in my house (we have well water ) i believe it uses reverse osmosis to take out the "bad stuff" is that water ok ?
