Today when I was feeding my Karelinii I noticed that the smaller male had a lot of his tail missing. Im going to seperate him. He doesn't seem to be eating and he has always been really skinny. Any other advice?

How many places are there in the tank where the smaller caudate can hide? You should have one peice of structure (i.e. a plant) for each caudate in your tank. Naturally the more dominant caudate will take the best spot. Putting in more hiding spots will cut down on agressive and dominant behavior, give the newts some space.

As for the newt being skinny, you might want to make sure the larger male isn't eating all of the food before the other caudate. That is why I hand feed my newts, because if I didn't then some of them wouldn't get fed.

I had a problem with a small Triturus picking on his tank-mates and eventually had to seperate it. All of his tank mates were missing tail parts.

I would take the smaller one, and feed it seperately until it's big enough to hold its own.

I hand feed my newts as much as a can. But he never wants to take it. Hes not emaciated skinny. Just skinnier than he should be. I have a lot of structure and plants in the water and on the land aread. Thanks for the advice. I hope he gets better.
