Hi all,

One of my tigers seems really ill. She normally has such a feisty personality, jumping about when I put my hand into the tank expecting food etc. However yesterday I found her just laying on a piece of bark in the tank, where she didn't move at all, even when offered with a worm (normally at this point she would have gone wild jumping and snapping). This morning she is more or less in the same spot. I have no idea why this sudden lethargy and illness has happened. The other two are compeletly fine and displaying their normal personalities. I fed them all a worm the day before last and was worried it might have been something to do with that, however they were all sourced from the same part in my garden, a place that I have used for food for them ever since I've had them (about two years). I am completely at a loose end wh this has happened and was wondering if anyone might have any suggestions/ideas on how I can help her out?

Thanks in advance

Owen

I don't know what might be the matter with the sal, but these kinds of problems tend to arise during summer, when sals are under the worst stress due to warm temperatures. Is there any place you could move the sal that would be cooler?

Yeah, I've moved her into a separate tank on her own and will move her to a cooler part of the house. If it is to do with temperature it is a little strange as it is quite cool here right now, certainly a lot cooler than two or three weeks ago when it was red hot. Anyway thanks for your help. If anyone can offer an insight it really would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

I would suggest getting her to a vet, for appropriate examination and diagnostics. Obviously not guaranteed, but that gives you the best chance of getting a specific diagnosis and therefore appropriate treatment.

Hope you can get her sorted out.

Bruce.
