i have a large adult tiger salamnder....it appears as if he cannot open his mouth...he was always a very strong eater and is pretty large...hes still nice and plump so im not too worried about starvation, but this has happened to me before and i actually lost a very nice, large, seemingly healther tiger sal...i have no idea what this could be or what caused this...i have recently put him into a different tank setup with a different substrate...im very concerned and somewhat clueless...any help, inp[ut or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS

What was his substrate before? And now? What's the temperature in the room?

Hi,

As Jen says, it's worth posting some more details here, to get some ideas of possible problems with your setup that might be an issue, but it sounds like a physical examination by a vet would be the best thing for your salamander. I would suggest getting him to a vet for a full check over.

Hope you can get him sorted out.

Bruce.
