Hello,
anxious mom again.
My axolotl Hongo gave me such a scare and panic today. I feed him at 8a and 8p. 12 hours apart twice a day because he is currently 3.5 inches and is still a juvenile. This morning I fed him his usual amount, and he ate it. About 10-20 minutes later I noticed he has thrown up. He has never done this before. The food was mostly solid, and in clumps. After he threw up he kept looking for food. About 15 minutes later he began swimming really fast. He was swimming very uncontrollably, rolling and swimming very agitatedly. I noticed his stomach was bloated and at this point the panic in me told me to stick him in the fridge. The first thing I did amidst all the panic was check his water quality. His ph levels were at 7.2, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0. His tank is currently cycling, and he is in a bare bottomed tupperware. Right now he’s in the fridge and he passed a big poop, and he seems less bloated, definitely no fast movements or rolling. But his gills and tail are now curled. I’m trying to get in contact with vets, but due to the holiday everyone is closed. I’m not sure what to do now. Here’s a still of the video. It’s too large to post...
