hello all,
i am concerned for my darling kip. she is rather unresponsive and seems to be stressed, her tail is hooked in a j shape and she is arching her back.
she was lying on the bottom of her tank with her tail curled earlier today, so i tapped her lightly with her feeding tongs. she felt stiff, and i immediately panicked. she is currently tubbed in cold dechlorinated water, and i'm making her a tea bath at the moment to help ease her stress. i'll attach pictures below. since being tubbed, she has begun to flick her gills slightly more, but with little other movement. i did a big water change today/yesterday, so i'm worried about temperature shock. i am worried for my girl, any advice is appreciated.

update on kip;
she is doing nicely. her tail is straight again and her back has flattened out. she is once again her active self and is looking around her tub hoping for worms. i believe she was in shock from a sudden temperature change, i don't use an aquarium thermometer (as her tank water is cold enough to hurt my hands after a few minutes of cleaning) but i assume that her new water must have been cold enough to change the overall temperature by a few degrees. kip has never had an issue with water changes in the past, but i will definitely be much more wary from here on out.

make sure you test the tank water as well as although your tank is established it is better to be safe than sorry.
glad she's doing better.

    Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

    He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
