I have an extra pump, got the tubing figured out, and small air stones. Benefit the axies? Hurt them?

I haven't got one, but my filter adds oxygen. I personally think it caused too much water current for little larvae.

I use one with mine--it's actually a long flexible tube bubbler, and they seem to like it. At least I would assume so....a group of them constantly stay near it and swim in the bubbles.

What size of container are you holding them in? Air stones create current. Current is not good you Axies.

Glass 5x5x5s. But with a tiny pump and 5 destinations through small air stones it doesn't seem to disturb the water much.

Not for the hatchlings. In the adults tank, use a sponge filter. The plastic riser tube allows for the air to be channeled closer to the top, minimizing the creation of current. Wooops...there's that word Creation. (shh...don't say anything my friend) lol

Got to thinking.....you don't have that many pups do you Mike? I think that you gracefully sent the bulk my way. The animal will tell you if it is not getting enough oxygen by floating to the top. Not once in a while or one or two of them occasionally, but most of them. This is them communicating to you. Fish do this more than the Axies. In the bait business, I run pure oxygen in my holding tanks, to what is called "keeping the fish down". If they are down then there is enough oxygen. If they are at the surface then there is trouble. The reason I think it is more prevalent in fish is because the gills are internal where as the gills of an Axie are external. Only a guess on the gill thought.

They do use the gills to dissipate the CO2 and flick then to move it around, so no doubt much better than fish.
