I need a filter and I can get a tetra 10i; can I use it on my axolotls? (I can't get a duetto because they are impossible to find!)

I wouldn't use an internal filter in an axolotl tank if you can avoid it. They heat up the water and create a current.

HOB filters work a lot better for axolotl tanks. TopFin is the brand I went with and it works pretty well. I tend not to trust Tetra's stuff because I've heard of some mishaps people have had with pretty much everything Tetra makes.

I like either canister filters or sponge filters for axolotls. Sponge filters have no current and canister filters are generally adjustable to prevent much current.

Im in the uk so water temp isnt really a problem for me and i use and internal filter, i like it because its in the tank out of the way and its relatively little, it has a spray bar to reduce water flow and oxygenate and is cheap!

Other than that lots of people recommend cannister filters for axies, and sponge filters are good but they dont provide chemical filtration :D
