So my axolotls are almost two weeks old. I'm feeding them microworms and I've watched them both eat a lot, they seem to be fine. The only concern I have is that (especially the leucistic one) likes to float to the top a lot, it's not all the time. The wild type one only does it to eat. I just don't understand what he's doing. Because aside from that, he's acting and eating normally. Some people have said some just like to float at the top sometimes. What do you think? I don't believe it's anything I'm doing wrong or the wild type would be acting the same way right? Anyway, your opinions would be appreciated. Have any of your babies ever done this?

Yeah, babies like to float sometimes. Once my babies got a bit bigger, I began filling their tubs deeper, and ever since then some like hanging out near the top, others like to chill on the bottom.

As long as you aren't seeing any obvious signs of stress and your water is clean, I don't think you need to worry.

If they are 2 weeks old and majority of them begin to float id say its time to move onto new food like some nice fresh Brine shrimp. Hatchlings will outgrow microworms quickly. Yes some Axolotls do just seem to float for no reason; though i do remember seeing something about possible Axolotl floating phenotype so i guess you can put some genetic reasoning to those that float for no reason.

Well I only have two, the wild type doesn't float at all, only the leucistic. Baby Brine aren't actually available to me at the moment, and I can't find daphnia either. The lady I got them from said I could start cutting up blood worms very small and adding them in WITH the live microworms to try and coax them onto that, a few of her babies are beginning to accept it. So that's worth a shot?
Maybe it's just his character then, I just thought I'd check in case it was an uncommon situation.

From my experience i haven't got the babies to eat chopped blood worms until they were about a inch or just a little over. If you need some supplies like Brineshrimp or pellets i might be able to help you i have some connects, just private message me.

. Baby Brine aren't actually available to me at the moment.
What? You hatch your own, the eggs are readily available online, all you need is a 2L pop bottle, some sea salt, and air pump/line and brineshrimp eggs.

Look up the tutorial in the stickys.
