Hi,

I just became a new member and I have two female Spanish Ribbed newts. Both of them have white patches on them. I don't know if it's dry skin, fungus or parasites.

If you can help me, I really would appreciate it. My whole family love these ladies and don't want to lose them.

I have Lucy ribbed Spanish newts mine has dark spots under the front arms should I be concerned. What should I do.

Here is a picture of my Lucy ribbed

I don't have experience about ribbed newts but aren't those nuptial pads which male gets when he is ready for mating season? Take a look at the caudata culture site (I try to refer it here: Caudata Culture Species Entry - Pleurodeles waltl ). If yours aren't p waltl, you can see other species on cc, too, just go to the "Species" part and scroll downwards to find the right one.

if that is what they are then I have 5 males and one female, poor lady. thanks for the link I am new to newts and salamanders but I love having them. this is exactly what is happening. I would love to successfully breed them. I have six in one 55gallon tank. does anyone know if I should separate them to a breeding tank? do I need to stop cooling the water down? omg I have so many questions

I don't know answers for these questions but have you noticed threads about ribbed newts specifically, they are under Species, genus... head line? I looked there quickly and think there were many threads about breeding so you might find answers there already. And I think caudata culture also had info about breeding, did you find it? When thinking my cynops, I let them breed in their own tank and just pick those babies that survived from egg to a morph, that's easy when you don't have to take care of the eggs/baby newts.
