Hey, I have gotten my 6 months old axol around a week ago and noticed the right side gills are shorter then the left one, I have read that it might be flow related but my filter is pointed to the glass and at low power, could it be from the airstone, it is quite big and powerful. Any help/input is appreciated

axolotls gill stems and filaments can and do grow strangely at times, this can sometimes be caused by injury, fungus, ammonia spike etc.. but sometimes there is no cause and they just do.
provided an axolotl can breathe through them they aren't bothered how they look.
for it to be pressure related on one side only an axolotl would have to be in a position where it is only receiving water/air on only one side for long periods of time.
