I have a question. I have someone sending me some newts from Ft Lauderdale Fl and I live in Tallahassee FL. My question is what all does she need to do to ship them ? And what are the laws about sending newts within the state of Florida ?

I can't seem to find state specific laws

Thanks

Nah I think you should be fine just shipping as is. I would just drive IMO though. Not that long of a drive.

I am having them shipped with "Reptiles2You." They have boxes and containers to put them in and cooling pads to keep them comfortable and they also make shipping labels and they called Fedex and made sure that they were going to truck it so that way it doesnt go out of state.

It is a bit of a drive. its about 8 hours to get there and I just don't have the time to go there and back. It would be cheaper to ship. It was about $40 for the box, the containers to keep them in and the cooling pads along with the shipping label with overnight shipping.

She is mailing them off tomorrow so I should have them on Wednesday. I just got a new 55 gallong aquarium for them as well

That's awesome man. As you probably know it's difficult to find any newts these days. I was thinking you were going from Tallahassee to Ft. Lauderdale.

Your best bet would be to drive. Its less stress on the newts.

Just an update. I got them. She told me there was 7. But when I got them to my surprise there were 8 of them! They are as happy as can be now too. They were originally in a 10 gallon tank from the previous owner and now they are in a heavily planted 55 gallon! Now just hoping to breed them now. I currently have 11
