Hi everybody. My C. Pyrrhogaster pair has had a bunch of little ones & I've just had my first one morph onto land.

I want to sell the babies as they morph, but don't know how to ship them. I bought one once, from an ad here, & it came overnight, but only cost me about $6 for shipping. What do you all advise for safe, inexpensive shipping?

Hello, there is an article about shipping caudates in caudata culture articles:

I am from West Jordan Utah, and if I had not just received 7 Cp's from Jen Macke (which are doing great!) I would be very interested in some of your morphs. Sheesh, I wait for over 2 years in hopes of finding a local hobbiest to get some Cp's from and when I finally get some from out of state, a local pops up just a few months later! What luck. Any way, good luck with your babies and I hope the shipping article helps.

That's quite a coincidence that you are both in Utah. Glad to hear they are doing well, Heather

Shipping in summer is problematic. You will need to use Express Mail (about $18-20) and ship with cold packs. Be careful, because not all destinations receive Express mail overnight; for some it takes 2 days, and that's long enough for them to cook. The alternative is to wait until next fall to sell them. In cool weather, you can use Priority Mail. There is no overnight mail that costs only $6 - I wish!

Yes, it should be getting hot in the valley there now so Express is an absolute. I also recommend requiring a signature for the package this time of year too. That way it doesn't get delivered to a mailbox that sets in the sun for the afternoon. Black is the common color so you can imagine the temps. I wish I had known there were other caudate fans around when I lived in Sugarhouse (98-03).

Total bummer, Heather! Well, I may just keep them all then & try to sell them at the Wasatch Reptile Expo this August. Or perhaps I'll place an ad on the Utah Herp Society site. Thanks for the article reference.
