Hi,

I've been keeping one axy happily in a largish tank with large shells, white river rocks and slabs of rock that are banded with iron ore (red type stone). Are all of these ok for axys? I was thinking about leakages etc. The shells I found, washed, dried, washed and dried then put in tank which was filtering for 3 months before axy added. Just put 2nd in today, so thought I'd check on this in case they both are harmed.

Thanks for your help.

Great! i've only had them a few weeks so I thought it might take longer than that for problems to occur.

What about the sea shells? They're okay?

Shells can cause pH changes. Furthermore, shells from beaches etc. can harbour parasites and pathogens. I would not recommend them.

Thanks.
I've now completely re-done my tank.

Its now got only river stones (small + large) (but all too large for axxies to swallow by a golden mile), plastic plants and a urn ornament in it.

Keep trying to get it right. Thankfully they've been forgiving so far. Can't be far from perfect now. May add another rock feature later on using that info you sent me.

I'll post some pics soon!!

Regards,
Melissa
