The first two are of her (him?) trying to get the shed skin off her tail and hind legs. She carried it around in her mouth for a long time after she had gotten it off.

Perhaps she was proud of her perfect shed? She even took it over to "show" Hatori her masterpiece. I'm not sure if she ended up eating it (which I heard they do...?). Anyways. I just wanted to share these photos with all of you since I enjoy seeing your newt photos.

These are great pictures Rebekka. From what I have read here and there some people have never seen their newt shed. To get such clear pictures is really something. Love the one of the perfect outline of the foot. She does look quite proud of herself, I have to agree. You can bet one of them ate it. I have seen mine chomp down on his a few times. Thanks for sharing these are nice shots.

Wow the pictures came out excellently. My Chinese Firebellies haven't even shedded since I bought them and I want to see them do it but I think your pictures have showed me enough. It looks fabulous!

really great quality photos, and beautiful tank, i must add. I wish I could shed skin, animals look so soothed when it's all done and over with.

Shinobi shedding again, one month later.

This one is Hatori. I found them shedding at exactly the same time.

It would be cool to see them to shed in real life.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
