Shanjing won't Shed

I recently transferred my shanjing to a wide breeding tub, and four of the 5 are demonstrating readiness to breed, and have never looked healthier. Unfortunately, one of the males is refusing to shed. He is sluggish, very dry, and nearly black. I've been forcing him to soak in the water but he hasn't made any progress. Does anyone have any tips on encouraging him to shed?

In my experience, when a sal had difficulty shedding, there is usually an underlying problem. In other words, poor shedding is often just a symptom of something else. Other than good basic care, I don't have any suggestions though.

Think the temperature raise from the breeding project could have upset him? I'll quarantine him in the morning if he doesn't look any better. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
