Hi guys.
I went to go feed my axies tonight and there were eggs everywhere!
I had thought I had all boys. I'm just wondering, is there a way to tell which is the female? Looking online it seemed vague.
One article said that the eggs wouldn't be white unless the mother is a Lucy, but the descriptions of the different genders makes me think our Lucy is a male so I'm just so confused.
Is there a sure way to tell?

Males usually have a large bump behind their back legs and females are a bit rounder in the belly and have a smaller bump behind their back legs. Can you get a picture of the eggs? I’ve heard that males will try to mate with other males….maybe it’s not eggs you’re seeing?

Pretty sure they're eggs.

Oh I see what you mean about the bumps. Okay my Lucy and one of my mels are also female 😬 the two that are males have only just now started showing the bumps, so guess they were just immature before then ...?
Is it true that it is unhealthy to allow females and males to be in the same tank long term?

I currently just have one male, so I don’t know from first-hand experience, however I’ve heard that females can be bred to death. I’d keep the makes and females separated!
