Would This Be Okay? I Will Add More Hides and Fake Plants When I get The Money. The Bowl is Empty Right How But Will Use Bottled Spring Water(Ozarka) Because Im Mad At Making Small Portions of Dechlorinated Water. But The Top Part From The Slope Is About 4 1/2 Inches. The Bottom is Like 1 1/3 Inches. He Can Burrow On The Top Portion. In The Hide its Nice And Dark Since I Covered The Back Up with Dirt. My Substrate is EcoEarth. I Have a Spray Bottle Full Of Ozarka Bottled Spring Water to Keep it Moist. How Often Would I Have to Do This If My Room is Normally 71-75(68 sometimes at night) and I have a Mesh Top. The Light Doesnt Give Any Heat and Is Only For Display Wont be Kept On. Its Just an Indecent Aquarium Hood On Top Of The Mesh Top(Will Give Pics If Needed). Please Tell Me If Im Missing anything or Doing Anything Wrong. I Get The Salamander on Tuesday. Please Help :D :D:smile::ufo:

I say just put the shelter half buried on the hill and move the water bowl down ... How big is that bowl? He needs to be able to fully submerge himself

I think you have to keep your humidity at a certain level so investing in a hydrometer would be great

i keep my coco-fiber soil moist from a spray bottle to keep humidity up for my tiger. i use a gallon tug filled with dechlorinated water and use that to fill the spray bottle and his water dish.

I think, especially if you are wanting a tiger salamander, you should go with a deeper substrate. 4-6 inches would be good for your type of setup. In the wild, tiger salamanders will dwell in burrows several feet deep. Personally, in my tank, I have nearly 12 inches of soil and the salamanders burrow all the way to the bottom (although your tank does seem like it could fit that much. Other statistics of your tank seem perfectly alright.

I would seriously review the caudate culture articles on the tiger salamander (they have 2 articles). They are very extensive and informative on caring for the tiger salamander.

I Will Have More Substrate But This is Temporary For Now Haha Thanks For The Advice Guys

Substrate should be moist not wet - you shouldn't be able to wring out water from the substrate. So, spray with spring water or tap water treated to remove chlorine and chloramines as frequently as needed to maintain this level of moisture. Sustained temps >73 degrees is getting too warm for proper husbandry; 68F is great. Have a look at this article from our Caudata Culture area for more information on care of tigers: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/tiger_sal_101.shtml

i changed it around again.. pics in my gallery

I think your new setup is probably worse. Really, there's no need to be fancy. 6 inches of substrate and a water bowl, maybe a few pieces of bark to hide under. That's it.
