Hi Robbie,

Playsand, Bunnings sell it, or pool filter sand most pool shops carry it. Definitely not marine sand.

When you have got it you will need to wash it before you put it in the tank. Get an old pillow case or two (one inside the other) and run water through it until the water runs clear. This may take a while.

It is best if you remove your axie and don't put it back until the water has cleared. The better you rinse it the quicker it will settle. If you haven't got a spare tank then your axie should be ok in a large Tupperware type container and some of his tank water. It should only be for a few hours if you have rinsed the sand well.

Mate, your tank is going to take anywhere from 6-10 weeks to cycle if you are starting from scratch. But thats ok you will just need to do regular partial water changes and parameter tests until it has. Have a look at www.axolotl.org it has heaps of information about all things axolotl.

Good Luck
