I'm moving my Axies into a larger tank (from a 30l tank they were in as juves into an 88l tank). It measures in at 30x15x12 and am interested in seeing some similar sized setups if people have them (its only for two males so its more than enough room). I just want to create more of an interesting show tank this time as the current one they're in was set up purely for their health and comfort, and whilst i wish for those to be a priority obviously, i'd like to make more of an interesting tank for displaying them during those moments they are active.

Also as the tank is more than large enough for my two boys I was thinking of adding a colony of guppies as the size of the tank should be more than large enough for them to be able to keep out of the axies way for the most part. Any sugestions towards handling this would be grateful?

Hi Eon,

For inspiration, check out this article: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/setups1.shtml
as well as the Axolotl Gallery: http://www.caudata.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=62

I have guppies in my aquarium (about the same size) and they all do wonderfully together (I mean, understanding that the guppies are food for the axolotls). I have lots of hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum) floating around so that the newborn guppies can hide from their parents, and I have a steady supply of feeder fish.
