I bought a new axolotl because it was a female, it was in bad shape one side of gills were short other half was damaged, part of tail was gone, so I moved her into my tank and properly look after her, she was fine roaming and searching and as soon as she encountered my other two axies she went mental which disturbed the other which also went mental, and i was dealing with 10000mph axolotls swimming insanely around the tank, she was also pushing one axies rear end with her head, what could be wrong with her? Could it be shock at a new environment and nervous behaviour

How old is your new axie and your other one? are there a big size difference between them?

You should be quaratining your new axie anyways to make sure it is not sick before introducing them to one another. After the new axie is use to the new water environment and what not, adding a tank divider in the tank and having them both in the same tank but not actually able to get to close to one another will help aleviate some of that anxiety. they are able to see and smell one another but they dont have the stress of being together.

Im just thinking it was a bit to much stress for the both of them all at one time. Like any animal you dont want to just stick a new one in with them right away.

The guy I bought it of didn't know what age it was, he basically just didn't care tbh, it had previously lived with another axolotl, well I have a golden alone and a leucistic albino at 14 months old sexually mature at around 9 inches, the new one is a wild/black type female at 8 inches which could be at least a year old, I have heard wild types are more aggressive because they are naturally themselves,

Things have calmed in the tank they don't seem to be bothering each other but the new axie is eating a hell of a lot, scavenging every bit of left over food, may she got defensive of the food within the tank, she's not sick but I would say limb condition such as tail and gills aren't healthy

Also info have another tank which I was going to put her in but It's heated and have to wait until it cools before I put her in

If she's injured it's best to separate her anyway as the other two might nip at her and for quarantine. It sounds like she's probably been bitten in the past by previous tank mates. Smaller axies can often be bitten by larger tank mates. She needs cool fresh water and she should hopefully recover really well. :D

Have you got any pics of her?

Yes I'll take some pics of her now :) she's roaming the tank as if it is hers now

Stitch had lived on his own for around 6 months of his life from being around 2 weeks until about 2 months ago, when i introduced my other two lottles, he was very scred of them, he would be fine until he went near them, then he would swim off really fast to the other end of the tank.
He settled down and avoided them for about 2 days and now he doesnt bother, he sits next to them and if they go too close at feeding time, he just swims off.
I think they just need to get used to each other but if the bullying/scaredness does persist more than a few days i would consider a divider :D
Are you sure your axies is a girl? The pushing could be a male encouraging the female to lay eggs, do you have a side picture of her?

They've settle down now and all pile on each other and sleep lol :) yea I have a picture here of her chasing my turkey baster ImageUploadedByTapatalk1367411952.558605.jpg

There is no gravel in the tank, it's just glass surface, the tank I had separated her into had a coarse surface which she was on in for like 10 mins
