I just got my first Axolotls on monday from a seller on site, and they are the cutest things I've ever had the privledge to have. I had originally asked for a golden and a melanoid but I'm pretty sure that the melanoid turned out to be a wild-type. In all honesty I'm glad though, he's a lovely yellow-green with tons to dark grey speckles. I plain black one might not have been as exciting. The pair is sooooo cute.

Like the title suggests, I've decided to name them Nero and Nell. Nell is the custey golden and Nero is the theorized wild-type (he's still little so you never know). So far Nero is the most photogenic, as Nell sort of blends in with the background and the water. My favorite part is feeding them their blood worms because their skin is see through and you can see them swallow the worms--it's cute and creepy!

EDIT:
I was going to post photos... but apparently it didn't work... -3-

You must post pictures of their progress as they grow. because i swear to god i had all melanoids! But then again i swear they change color daily, because they were perspective wild types when they were smaller.

I guess its a wait and see type of thing though. I have 3 of these "melanoid/wildtype" left.
Wouldnt that be wonderful if they turn out like my wild type! I plan on breeding texas once he is old enough(still have tons of time) just because of his beautiful colors!

Now you have me curious and doubting myself again!

you can see that Nell is missing a foot, but it'll be interesting to watch it grow back

(the pictures don't get any bigger, sorry)

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
