I was making a slate bottom for my tank and I used eggcrate with saran wrap to silicon the slate and rock to. It was a quick decision that I'm thinking I might regret. I've tried to search for answers on if it's safe but can't find anything. Here is a pic

Is this a bad idea to submerge?

I'm debating on tearing it up but I'm already $15.00 in on 3 tubes of aquarium safe silicone.

Normally most things that are foodsafe should be o.k. in an aquarium. I use zip lock bags all of the time for egg laying sites. I think saran wrap should be fine.

Thank you michael!!! This makes me so happy. That aquarium silicone is not cheap lol. Thanks heaps!

Agreed, saran wrap is designed to be inert so should be okay. Please post some more pictures, I don't understand how you are using the saran wrap and egg crate.
