Using fresh dechlorinated water ensures that the axolotl is not residing in a confined space with already existing ammonia levels.

Hi Ryan,
If you are putting your axies straight back into the tank, once the sand has settled of course, then I would be inclined to use water from your tank as it will only be for a short time. It will be less stressful for your axie to not have to deal with a water change as well if its only for a few hours.
