So today I went out and bought some sand, it's live sand and the lady at petsmart (where I bought it) said that it will help keep my cycle and ammonia/nitrite and nitrates in check, anyone know if this is true? Or can I even use it??????, I did already put it in my tank but there's nothing else in it as I'm waiting for the water to get clearer, however if its harmful to axies then I won't mind getting rid of it.

Is it for freshwater? I've only ever seen live sand for saltwater tanks. There could be freshwater live sand I've just never seen or heard of it before. If it is for freshwater then yes that is true, it could help your tank.

It's not Fri fresh water so all the lving stuff in it just dies, and I've recently read that it will help my cycle but as a substrate it's not as good as play sand so I will 've replacing it once my cups is over, or I might layer it
