hey,

well I'm really intrested in getting sand at the bottom of my tank. I was wondering where to get it from though. Is the sand that you use to fill up childrens sand pits ok? Or do I need to buy it from
somewhere? Please help me!

Yes children's play sand is what most people use, some also use pool filter sand. Which ever one you decide to use make sure you rinse it, rinse it, and rinse it again. Also just put enough to barely cover the bottom of the tank that way you avoid gas pockets. Oh, and you should be able to buy it at your local hardware store or the like.

Hi Matt, long time no see

Yes, children's play sand is fine - but you would have to buy that, too. You can't go take it from a kid's sandbox, as it could be full of who knows what.

A great tip from Abrahm is also pool sand. To quote Abrahm, pool sand is used for filtration therefore is pre-cleaned and has far less dust to be rinsed away first. I have also read other people who say it looks more "natural" than play sand. It is also inexpensive, as is play sand.

Were you able to talk your Dad into the bigger tank?
