Hey guys,

Does anyone know of places where I can get that gorgeous white fine grained sand? I tried my local Bunnings, but they don't seem to have the fine grained (which I am using at the moment).
I went to Kellyville pets today and they have a 10kg pack for >$40! Now, I KNOW they come cheaper than this.. I've seen play sand is okay, has anyone seen places which have white (I am dead set on the white!)?
Anywhere between Penrith and Macquarie Uni, preferably (you know, along the GWH/M4 way haha).
I haven't tried my local sand/gravel place, but they look like they just shovel it up :S Not sure if they have pre-packaged stuffs...
Thanks guys :)

The superfine white sand is an aquarium product & contains a Ph buffer so it will hold the Ph at about 7.4 - it is ridiculously expensive & having had it in a very small tank it is an absolute pain to keep clean (if you're OCD like me!)

Bunnings Playsand is a beige coloured sand & looks great with all colours of axolotls & thanks to the slightly courser grains it's easy to clean - just make sure to rinse really really well then rinse again just for fun :)

I recently looked into pool filter sands & there was a variety of those all too course. I looked at glass beads that are used for pool filter media & also glass bead blasting - they're very fine & have a slightly green tinge to them like tempered glass does. I'm still contemplating trying some in a small tank to see how it looks & cleans.

Ideally we want to find a super fine silica sand - I've spent months annoying various industries & am yet to find one like the ones I've seen used on here..

Did I actually answer your question? Or have I just rambled on adding more confusion to your already frustrating search? lol

Bunnings Playsand -
(It's really not too bad)

I think after seeing my old pics I might try putting Playsand in my 4'ft tank to see how it copes with a few adults messing it up daily :)

Once again I've hope I've been helpful & not caused more confusion :D lol

That is EXACTLY the sand I want. My bunnings doesn't seem to have it D: I'l hassle them for it. Thanks!

Now I know I bought the right stuff ?
And I bought 2 bags but only needed one. It goes so far. My little lotls thought it was food and tried eating it. It was rather amusing. I used so much water rinsing it, glad that there were so many warnings to do so as the water is crystal clear now.

That's what I get for looking outside in the sand/pebble area! I'll go get some today, thanks!!! I'll put a pic up after it's all done :)
