I have 2 juvenile axolotls and I am using sand I read some where that sand is not good for then and can eventually kill them? Do I need to remove all the sand from my aquarium?

Well, what size are your axolotls? :) It's generally not recommended to keep them on sand unless they're 5-6 inches long, because when they're smaller than that they risk impaction from accidentally eating the sand, which can be fatal! :(
If you don't want to remove all the sand, getting a small feeding dish or plate to put in the bottom of the tank would reduce the risk of them eating any said during feeding time, and I've seen some users here putting pieces of slate over their sand until their Axies were old enough to have the slate removed!

They are about 3 inches so should remove the sand then?

Removing the sand might ruin your bacterial cycle (this happened to me with an old tank) so if I were you I'd just find a way to cover the sand for now to make sure they don't eat any of it! :)
