salamanders in corfu?

i was wandering whether there are any salamandra sp. in corfu. was thinking s. s. salamandra was a possibility. anyone know of any?

I didn't know if you meant wild salamandra or salamandra to buy but here is a list of all the known amphibians in Greece: http://amphibiaweb.org/cgi-bin/amph...isocc=like&orderbyaw=Order&where-isocc=Greece

There is Salamandra atra and Salamandra salamandra in Greece but not sure about Corfu, sorry.

I used to read Gerald Durrell's books when I was young and I don't remember anything in "My Family and Other Animals" about salamanders on Corfu. Then again that was 20 years ago .

you know what john, i have been reading that about 1 year ago, and skimread it about 3 days ago to double check! and yea, nothing on sals whatsoever!

ryan, thanks for the link, i havent been to that particular website, and they all seems to say about greece, but not the offshore islands

i think i will just have to go and have a look for some!

p.s one place i will be going in the near future that has alot of salamanders is northwestern spain, so hope to get some good herping accounts from there!
