hey was just wondering what salamander poop looks like? i was told the usually urinate and poop in the water, i change the water daily, but its always full of soil so i can never identify which is poop. just want to know so i know if they are healthy etc.

They look like footballs (American). It disintegrates pretty quickly. They may or may not poop in the water. I've found mine usually don't poop in the water. So you'll have to change your substrate fairly often (once every other month or so).

Here, since a picture is worth 1000 words, is a picture of some fresh Tylototriton verrucosus poop.

If you're interested, here is the context of my Tylos.

I just posted on them today, in the most recent picture you can see the poop in its natural habitat.
