New member here. Hi!

I stumbled across this forum while searching google for help. Yesterday afternoon I was out mowing and trimming/edging my lawn. While running my string trimmer along the edge of the sidewalk, I clipped a small salamander with the trimmer that was apparently hiding between the concrete and the grass. It's still alive but has a badly broken rear leg. Everything else *seems* ok. I feel awful. In 5 years of living in this house, I've never seen one.

Anyway, I live in Boise Idaho and to the best of my ability, have identified the salamander as a long toed. What should I do with the little fella? I have no knowledge of keeping or caring for one, and to be honest I'm not confident he'll live. I don't know how hardy they are.

Any advice? Thank you

Try to find a wildlife rehabilitater in your area. They can help him.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
