my salamander spends all its time day and night in its burrow......i'm trying to train it to come out by only feeding it when its head is partly out of the burrow hopeing it will put associate going out of the burrow with food but 3 months on and it still hasn't played the game any ideas or tips

Although some tiger salamanders can become very tame other individuals can also be very shy.
I have one tiger that I only ever see when I have to dig it up to change the substrate, while the other will come out of hiding when I approach and sit staring at me waiting to be fed.
When your tigers head is out of its burrow, try to coax it out, by holding the food item just out of its reach.
With a lot of patience this may work in the end.

I found ten red back salamanders and need alot of info on them. I would really appreciate it if someone told me how to tell if one is male or female.
