Hi guys! I may have jumped the gun a little bit and I ordered all the stuff this morning I figured I'd need for my axolotl. I bought National Geographic™ Aquarium Sand | Gravel & Sand | PetSmart this sand, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it's safe or not? I'm really hoping it is, because I bought 50lb of it haha ;~; Also! At what age would it be safe for my tank to have sand? I don't want to injure my lotls by giving them a substrate they could ingest but not digest.

I've used that one and it hasn't caused any problems for me :) They will never be able to "digest" the sand, but it will be easier for them to pass the sand if they are above 3 inches long :) If your going to use sand, its best to have a feeding bowl for them to eat out of. I use a flower vase... it's glass and I made sure it was cleaned very thoroughly. It works very well and keeps them from eating so much sand.

Ah! Thanks so much. :) I'll be sure to get a feeding bowl for the lotls. I just remember looking around this forum and reading there was such a thing as unsafe sand and thinking, "I sure hope the sand I bought is going to be okay." Glad and thankful you were able to clear this up for me.
