Safe filter media

I'm planning on using two internal waterfall filters on each end of the lotl's tank. They have really low current when on their lowest setting. They've been cycled with fish already and have been running for over a year. Because of this will they be a risk to the lotl's health? All fish are thriving and healthy.

They should be fine - the bacteria that make up the cycle aren't fussy about what waste they process.
The best way to get a cycle going is to pinch some media from a mature filter from a healthy tank - I do it all the time.
