Had 19 little swimmers hatch from a clutch of eggs over the last week or so. Lost a few which I expected. Last night before bed there were 17 fat happy critters. When I got home this evening 10 had died and it looks like 4 more may be on the way out. I put everyone in a seperate container with fresh water tonight.

The room was around 75 degrees or so which was a surprise since the rest of the house felt cool. It was overcast and near 70 outside. I have a fan blowing over the containers now and will leave the door open with a fan in it tomorrow.

Anything else I can do to help my babies? I'm pretty heartbroken, feel like a bad parent.

I was too late to the rescue. The rest of them died over night. :(

So very sorry. :( I know how you feel as I lost 3 of my 2 month olds 2 weekends ago because the room got too hot as well. And yes, I felt like the worst owner ever. :(

I am so sorry. No person should ever have to lose their healthy baby axxies, but you tried your absolute best. You obviously care for them a great deal.

I know you probably feel like the worst owner ever. We always do when our pets get sick. But if you've done your darnedest, there's nothing more you could have done. You did nothing wrong. Hindsight is 20/20 too, you'll always think you could have done more, but you weren't to know. No one is infallibly clairvoyant. When my Nana died we were always thinking, 'if we'd done this, would she have died?' 'Could we have spent more time with her?' 'Could we have done more?'

Your babies were loved. That's always important. You had the best intentions.
I hope you're holding up okay. It's never easy. My thoughts are with you and your babies.

Thanks, everyone. I know next time I'll be better prepared.
